Johnny Depp told Vanity Fair about his actual motivation for doing those dreaded Pirates movies. Hint: it’s not because he loves his work.
Basically, if they’re going to pay me the stupid money right now, I’m going to take it. I have to. I mean, it’s not for me. Do you know what I mean? At this point, it’s for my kids. It’s ridiculous, yeah, yeah. But ultimately is it for me? No. No. It’s for the kids.
Wow. I had no idea that the Depps were so affected by the economic downturn. You’d really think Mr. Depp would be living comfortably by now. Did they fall victim to a subprime mortgage deal? Oh, gosh, were they Madoff clients?
My family would never make movies solely for the money. Most of their choices are based on poor judgment and/or desperation. Here is a trailer from my mother’s next film:
